Case Study
A potential client came to us in mid-2020, during the darkest days of the coronavirus pandemic, asking for us to help them sell down their 18,000-acre mineral and royalty portfolio across Oklahoma and Texas. They were in a decent position with their bank, and their bank was working with them, so we decided to engage as their exclusive sell-side advisor.
After aggregating their raw data, we normalized it and created a visual data room via DocSend where we were able to monitor everyone who came and went. Only those who executed the one-click NDA were given access and it was an invite-only, private process. DocSend allowed us to watermark the materials based upon who downloaded them, for example, in case there was a breach of the confidentiality agreement we could track down the breach. We leveraged our mark-to-market systems and other technology to identify existing and potential purchasers from coast to coast.
After running a full process we found a purchaser willing to value upside when the market was attempting to only value PDP at PV20-30, resulting in the only mineral and royalty transaction to close in 2020 that was of any scale. We are very thankful to that company for placing their trust in Hefner Energy and are happy with the results delivered.
